Have you ever wanted to decorate with wallpaper but haven’t known where to begin with creating a mood board? Or have you worried that wallpaper is unaffordable and been too afraid to try using it? Or maybe you have simply lacked ideas on how to decorate a room but have known you want it to have an impact?

Working with wallpaper can seem quite scary to those who haven’t done it before because of a bunch of perceived difficulties. But I am going to share with you a series of wallpaper ideas and room themes that are all built around the most amazing and affordable designs from Ilovewallpaper.co.uk an online-based retailer of wallpapers that are super affordable for normal everyday households.

Affordable Wallpaper Ideas

Yes, it’s true, some wallpapers are super pricey. Often the high prices are due to a designer name or brand or a thicker type of paper. However, there is a lot to be said for wallpapers that are less expensive. I have hung both expensive and affordable wallpapers in my home and the only difference I noted was on the weight of the more expensive ones. Heavier weight feels more luxurious in your hand, but how often do you run your hands across your walls? I find working with a lighter weight paper easier for my beginner status as it was easier to hold and position on the wall. Ilovewallpaper.co.uk has a MASSIVE range of affordable designs making all kinds of paper and patterns accessible to everyone.

Mood Boards

Decorating your home requires a lot of thought. If I had a pound for every time I have painted a wall only to find it doesn’t look quite right with my flooring or furniture, I would have enough money to hire my own interior designer! I have recently discovered the massive benefit in pulling together a mood board to help me gather my thoughts around a whole room scheme rather than choosing an item or wallpaper and then not knowing what to do with it.

Look and Feel Mood Boards

These are a type of mood board that are built physically by arranging materials, colours, paints, papers and fabrics out on a board so you can really look at and literally feel the theme represented on the mood board. These are great for pulling together when you find samples of fabrics or wallpapers that you love the look of and want to start matching them up to other interior decor elements to create a whole room look and feel. Try cutting out images from magazines, collecting paint cards, ordering wallpaper samples from ilovewallpaper.co.uk, picking up fabric swatches from furniture retailers, and collecting them together.

Dark & Bold Romantic Bedroom Moodboard

Going to the dark side is something that a lot of us feel tempted by thanks to the masses of beautiful images of dark romantic bedrooms we see on Instagram and Pinterest but yet remain a bit afraid of for fear of making a room look smaller. But there’s no denying that if you want a romantic boudoir bedroom that considering a dark wallpaper is definitely worthwhile. This floral design from I Love Wallpaper breaks up the darkness with lovely light tones and the large print stops the paper looking too busy. Warm Industrial Dining Room Mood Board

For our kitchen dining room, I wanted a space that felt cosy and warm because the large windows we have made the room feel cold on dark autumn and winter days. I also wanted a feature wall that would help to bring warmth and texture into the room. I love brick effect wallpapers for this very reason and, when partnered with warm woods, are a match made in heaven. This ‘look and feel’ mood board was built using bits and pieces I have around the house and you can really feel how this room would end up turning out using elements of this kind.
